raising boys

This is one of our favorite quotes, but I had forgotten it until Alec used it the other day...

"We aren't raising grass, we're raising boys!"

It comes from a story where the Dad is outside roughing it up with the boys when the Mom yells out the door and says they are tearing up the grass. We used to use it all the time to remind ourselves what is most important.

I think Alec remembered it at a good time as these boys are growing up and are tearing up more and more "grass."
